About Our Program

Welcome to the Wingate University Department of Physician Assistant Studies.

The Physician Assistant Program at Wingate University received provisional accreditation through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) on March 10, 2008. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) granted approval on January 10, 2008, for Wingate University to offer the Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree.

Our first class of 20 students will be admitted into the program in August 2008 under provisional accreditation. We will be interviewing prospective students on April 2 and 3 for acceptance into this inaugural class. Full accreditation occurs after our first class graduates in 2010 and requires another site visit by ARC-PA and a self-assessment report.

All information contained on our website and in our documents is subject to change as we continue to develop an outstanding PA program. You are advised to check the website periodically to note any updates. If there are questions concerning any facet of our program, please feel free to contact us via email or telephone.

Our goal is not to just develop a good program – but to help nurture outstanding mid-level health care providers. Our stated mission is “to educate Physician Assistants to become competent, compassionate and comprehensive health care providers, leaders in the health care community, continuously striving for excellence in their professional endeavors while compassionately providing for the health care needs of those they serve.”

Sincerely yours,
